Rajinikanth talked about a rough times in Amitabh’s life

Rajinikanth talked about a rough times in Amitabh’s life when he found himself struggling to pay debt. To dig himself out, Amitabh was working hard hours—sometimes up to 18 hours a day! He even had to sell his home in Juhu, Mumbai. It’s sad to think that some people in the film industry were actually celebrating his struggles instead of supporting him.

During one of his toughest times, Amitabh decided to take a step back from the limelight. He needed some solitude to figure things out. Eventually, he tried his hand at starting his own company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), but that venture didn’t go as planned and left him facing bankruptcy.

Rajinikanth recalled how Amitabh had to sell off several properties, including that special house in Juhu. But even with all this happening, Amitabh’s determination to bounce back was truly inspiring.

Everything changed when Amitabh approached the legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra looking for work. Rajinikanth shared a touching memory from that day: “One day, he walked to Yash Chopra’s house wearing a monkey cap because he couldn’t afford a driver anymore. He humbly asked Yash for a job. Yash handed him a signed cheque right away, but Amitji turned it down, saying he would only take it if he got a role.”

That moment led to Amitabh landing a role in Mohabbatein, which marked a major comeback for him. Rajinikanth admired Amitabh’s work ethic during this time, saying, “He did whatever it took. He took on all kinds of ads, and some people in the industry even laughed at him. But for three years, he worked tirelessly, even with health issues, putting in those long hours to clear his debts.”

Not only did Amitabh manage to pay off his debts, but he also bought back his old house and even added two more in the same neighborhood. Rajinikanth was amazed by Amitabh’s tenacity, saying, “That’s Amitabh Bachchan for you! Even at 82, he’s still working 10 hours a day.”

On the professional side, Amitabh recently starred in the hit movie Kalki 2898 AD, which made a whopping ₹1,042 crore at the box office.
