Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta in Talks for Key Roles in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’

Bobby Deol and Lara Dutta are currently under consideration for pivotal roles in Nitesh Tiwari’s forthcoming film Ramayana. After securing Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, the team has expanded the ensemble by casting KGF star Yash as Ravana. In a continuation of this impressive lineup, Nitesh Tiwari is now in talks with Bobby Deol for the role of Kumbhakarna, Ravana’s younger brother known for his enormous stature and insatiable appetite. Additionally, Lara Dutta is being eyed for the portrayal of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dashrath and the mother of Prince Bharat.

According to reports, Lara Dutta’s character will have a substantial role in the first part of Ramayan, while Bobby Deol’s Kumbhakarna and Sunny Deol’s Lord Hanuman are set to make their appearances in the second part. While Lara is reportedly on board, Bobby is still deliberating over the role, weighing his options amidst a slew of offers following the success of Animal. Sunny Deol is also said to be contemplating the role of Lord Hanuman, acknowledging its potential to be a transformative character, akin to the impact it had on the late Dara Singh.

The commencement of shooting for the first part, featuring Ranbir and Lara, is slated for March, with Lara expected to join the set two months later. Yash and Sunny Deol will make special appearances in the initial film, with shooting scheduled for July. The film, backed by a substantial budget for cutting-edge VFX and unprecedented action sequences, is targeting a release in the latter half of 2025.
